Congregations of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod believe, teach, and confess the faith as set forth in the Bible-based Lutheran Confessions. Drawn from God’s Word, the Lutheran Confessions are a true and binding exposition of Holy Scripture and serve as authoritative texts for all pastors, congregations and other rostered church workers of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.
God loves all of the people of the world despite our sin. We receive His grace, though undeserving of it, through the love displayed by Christ on the cross.
"For by grace you have been saved, through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast."
- Ephesians 2:8-9
Because of the suffering and death that Christ endured in our place, we are able to receive forgiveness through faith in Christ. Those who hear the Good News and believe it receive the eternal life that it offers.
“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
- Romans 5:1
The Bible is the inerrant and infallible Word of God, in which He reveals His Law and His Gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ. It is the sole rule and norm for Christian doctrine.
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.”
- 2 Timothy 3:16-17
